Many small local businesses--Inns, Restaurants, Tour Operators etc.--write to us about advertising on VirtualTourist. Thing is, they have little or no advertising budget and we can't accomodate them. But now with the VT Local Merchant Program, we allow them to build an advertising webpage that gets listed at VT in exchange for passing on discounts to VT Users. In short, they get advertising exposure and VT members get special deals in cool places. Everyone is happy. Wherever Local Deals are available, you'll find them listed on VT Travel Guides in the right column under the forum excerpts.

We've only just started offering this service to Local Merchants, so there aren't many available. Where Deals are available, you'll be albe to see them on the VT Travel Guides. As more and more deals roll in, we'll offer a way to search for them.

When you browse the Local Merchant Deals, you'll be able to print out a VT coupon that the merchant must honor. Make sure you get all the prices and discounts in writing before you book. We DO NOT guarantee the deals and are not responsible for any claims made by a merchant, but we will remove any merchant offering fake discounts.
