A typical resort town

Cala Millor "The better bay"

Cala Millor
Jaume Vicens Andreu, saw potential in Cala Millor as a resort and in 1933 built the Hotel Eureka, which is officially the first hotel built in the resort. Nowadays there are in the region of 120 hotels and apartment complexes here.

Cala Millor shares a bay with the smaller neighbour, Cala Bona with the beach stretching for approx. 6 km. From the beach to the back end of town is about 3 streets deep , the middle street which is pedestrianised having most of the shops, pubs and restaurants. There is everything from the more upmarket to the English pub type food. An ideal place for families and couples if you don't want too much wild nightlife, although there are several clubs to chose from.

I know resorts are not to everyones taste, but as far as resorts go this is less offensive than some of the others of a similar size and it seems to be getting better in regards to eating out. Yes there are a large number of British and German tourists and the usual pubs but there are an increasing amount of local restaurants opening up.

Another thing is that this is also a child friendly resort with plenty for kids to do.

Majorca looks like a destination I'd love to visit someday. The small places like Cala Millor are especially attractive. Thanks, Nigel, for bringing it to my attention.
