Vietnam Vietnam in July?
Posted: Tue November 4, 2008 05:08 PM UTC
We are thinking about going to Vietnam in July (that's when I have my vacation) is it crazy ? Is it too hot? heard about typhoons, flooding, malaria?
Please advise. I could possibly go in April ,but for a much shorter trip, and I prefer to go for a month and travel slowly.. what do experienced Vietnam travelers advise?
thanks

I've travelled from the north to the south in July 2006 and 2008. It will be hot, but I had very little rain on both occasions. Sometimes a shower in the afternoon or in the evening, but most of the days no rain at all. It all depends how soon the rain saison will start. My impressions about a few places : Hanoi (very hot and humid), Sapa (will be less hot, because it is up in the mountains), Hue/ Hoi An (hot, but with a blue sky and sunshine), Mui Ne at the seaside (the perfect weather in July), Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta(hot). But after a month of traveling, you will be more or less used to the heat :-) I hope this helps to make your decision.

July is is Hot and humid up north and hot and dry down south (on the whole, the tropics is a bit variable). Typhoon season is towards autumn so you should be OK on flooding side. Malaria is found only if your really out in the bush.

Coming to Vietnam in July is the smart choice! It is not high season. The price for services is cheaper. You should go to the beach because of pleasant weather. You will not stand the hot.Example: Halong Bay- the best choice! Have a rest overnight on high class "wood" cruise and kayak through caves! Every thing is unforgetable!!!:))
