Bali Sanur - Bali
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 09:53 PM UTC
We are travelling to Bali this month and staying in Sanur for 10 days. We found a good package deal at Laghawa Hotel using the internet. We have been in contact with the hotel via email and they have assured us they have vacancies and that they will meet us at the airport. We have not provided them with any other details other than my name and our flight arrival time. Has anyone had a similar experience or stayed at this hotel recently? The hotel does have a couple of websites and each has different prices for the package we have chosen but their email has assured us of the cost of the package. Look forward to hearing from anyone who has stayed at this hotel recently.

Phuket Flights from bangkok to phuket
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 06:27 PM UTC
I will be landing in Bangkok at 06:30 on Sat 4th April 2009 & staying there for one night. I will then be flying on to Phuket for two weeks. Is it best to book the flights before I leave the UK or will it be ok to book them in Bangkok? bearing in mind the short notice.
I am thinking that I might get a better deal in Bangkok, but my worry is the availability at such short notice.
Thanks for any advice, Paul.

Pakistan British/Pakistani National Travelling to Pakistan
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 06:26 PM UTC
Hi Guys,

I have dual nationality with britain but my pakistani passport has been expired. I will be travelling to Pakistan next month. There is two types of fees on embassy's website. One for Britain Nationals and one for dual nationals like me. I'm a little confused what should I pay. To prove that I'm a dual national would they require a valid pakistani passport as well? I called the embassy and did not get through to anyone. Does anyone know?

Goa Wireless Broadband for travellers in Goa
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 05:41 PM UTC
I am traveling to Goa and doing a little bit of work as i am traveling and would like to know if mobile broadband available on a 'pay as you go' or 'pre pay' service for tourists etc.

I am happy to purchase a local operators dongle and SIM card if this is the best way. I will be taking a spare 3G mobile phone if it is recommended to use the phone as the modem (and the only option).

Can anyone recommend how i can get online as i'd rather use this option, than have to rely on internet cafes.

Are there Wifi zones across Goa?

Is Palolem covered for mobile broadband?

Does Cafe Del Sol hotel have wireless internet?

Thanks in advance...

Vietnam Family holiday
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 04:16 PM UTC
We are a family with four kids age from 12 to 6 and are arriving HCMC mid April, I would welcome suggestions for must see/do's during our 2 wk stay. We would like to incorporate an equal amount of sight-seeing, relaxing and snorkelling so would appreciate recommendations for a beach too and if this involves travelling that's OK within reason. We don't wish to be anywhere too remote. Hotels to stop in during our stay would also be appreciated. Regards. Di

Phnom Penh Long-term stay in Phnom Penh
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 12:01 PM UTC
Hello, everyone, I would like to ask you about money matters staying in Phnom Penh for a longer time. I am doing my Masters in International Development and I specialize on SE Asia, particularly Cambodia. At the end of July I am coming to Phnome Penh to undertake a 4-month unpaid placement at one of many NGOs there. My question would be how much money do I need to have a descent (not posh) life in Phom Penh. Is 500-700 $ a resonable amount of money?
I have been to Phnom Penh before as a tourist, but I can't make any conclusions just spending there two days. How much is a regular room to rent in nowadays and how much would I need for other expenses (food, entertainment, etc.)?

Best regards,
Paulius

Kuching All about Kuching
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 09:17 AM UTC
I am considering if you know:
-Any good budget operator to book a 2 day trip to Bako National park? I am very much confused with so many advertisements so dont know which one is good one.
Anyway, I booked the room in Bako naitonal park via internet myself, but they require to pay 1 week in advance (which is impossible cause we only arrive to Kuching 3 days before the trip to Bako).
-We plan to rent a car to go around Kuching,do you know what's the good price / day?
- Have any of you stayed in Villge House yet? How was that? We plan to be there for 2 nights and need your comments about this place.
- From Kuching, is that too far to go to border of Malay with Indonesia? We want to be in Indonesia land for a while cause I dont need a visa so it's convinient.

Thanks a lot!!!

Hi there,

I am interesting in getting some Cultural Revolution souvenirs for my coming trip to China. Is there an English version of the Little Red Book available? If yes, am I better off getting it in Beijing (Panjiayuan Market) or Shanghai (Dongtai Lu Market)?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Vietnam Laos Border
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 05:06 AM UTC
Hi there, me again.

Is it easy enough to cross over to Laos from Northern Vietnam by land? Or is it easier to just get a flight from Hanoi? I heard of a popular crossing around Hue but not sure if i want to go that far south.

Thanks

Delhi Help with India Itinerary (last one I hope!!)
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 04:53 AM UTC
Hi,

I've nearly made my made up! I've discovered a train that runs overnight from Agra to Amritsar. That means I can save myself a night's accommodation and do the following:

Tues: Arrive Delhi
Weds: Depart for Agra (early train)
Weds: Depart for Amritsar (4pm train - Chattisgarh Express) - Is this too short a time in Agra? Should I stay the night?
Thurs: Arrive Amritsar 7.55am
Fri: Depart for Delhi (late) on a plane or train, haven't decided
Sat: Delhi - depart to Dubai (late)

Do you think this will work?

Also, how do I book trains in advance from another country?

Thanks!

P.S. For those who have been helping with previous posts, I have decided to go to Jaipur and Mumbai and leave Udipur out. There just wasn't enouigh time!

Singapore Changing money at Budget terminal?
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 01:39 AM UTC
We arrive at 2.45am and will need money for taxi (and by the way can anyone tell me if there are taxicabs there that transport 7 of us and the approx price?).
Is there an ATM machine that takes Australian key cards and give Singapore dollars (like they do in Bali) or is there a money changer open then?
Would prefer not to buy money in Australia.
Thankyou.
