Berlin Berlin Welcome Pass or Eurorail
Posted: Mon December 29, 2008 07:04 PM UTC
What's a better bargain, train travel offered in the Berlin Welcome Packet or Eurorail? I'm trying to figure out how many "Eurorail" days I need for my upcoming 2 week Germany tour. I almost always overpick the amt of days but I find it difficult to predetermine. I also expect to use the Eurorail pass for Rhine river travel. Thanks.

Berlin Not expensive dinner-place in Berlin with traditional food and beer
Posted: Fri December 26, 2008 10:59 AM UTC
Hello!
Could you help me?

I'm going to Berlin in January, so could you help me with some food-places there?
Could you advice me good but not expensive cafe, bar or restaurant in Berlin with traditional German food. I mean pork, sausages, beer etc.?
Somewhere not far from Gendarmenmarkt?

How much could it cost to have average dinner there?

Thank you!

Berlin 1 day in Berlin
Posted: Thu November 13, 2008 10:36 PM UTC
Hi,

I will be in Berlin from 21st Nov (friday) evening till 22nd Nov (saturday) evening. Could anyone suggest how to make the best of one night in Berlin (good clubs, bars, etc) and a good budget hotel to stay in? I have been to Berlin before and seen most of the regular tourist attractions, so looking for something with more of a local flavor now..

Thanks!

Berlin type of ticket
Posted: Thu November 13, 2008 12:54 PM UTC
Hi!
I'll fly to Berlin next week. I will arrive on Schoenefeld airport, and from there I'll go to the Alexanderplatz. Because I will be in Berlin for about a week, with my husband, I think the best ticket will be the 7-day-ticket. We buy one of this ticket and both of us will be allow using the VBB overall network. Is it correct? The second question is that if this ticket, (I mean the 7-day-ticket, 32 euro-Berlin, ABC) will cover the trip from Schoenefeld airport to the city center, the trips within Berlin and a trip to Sanssouci (Postdam) and return.
The third question is that if I can buy this kind of ticket from the Schoenefeld airport and if yes, where exactly.
Thanks a lot!

I am interested in visiting The Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial. Can anybody tell me if it is possible to turn up on my own on either Wednesday or Thursday and join a group tour or is it necessary to assemble a group of people myself who are also interested in this trip and then pre register for a group tour.

Hello
I am making a quick weekend trip to berlin Tomorrow 7/11/08 and need a place to stay but am having not much luck. Does anyone know of a place to stay between 60-70 euros? I have tried all the common internet sites but nothing available or too expensive. I have some business to do in Mitte, so I would prefer to stay there but am not fussed if I have to stay somehere else.
Also, I have read that some people say that November isnt a good time to visit Berlin...why?

Berlin Visiting Berling on Dec. 26th-29th - is it worth it?
Posted: Thu November 6, 2008 11:13 PM UTC
We plan be in Berlin for 4 days, from Dec. 29th, which is a Friday and Boxing Day, to the 29th. We heard that most attractions would be closed on these days: museums, shops etc. Is that true? should we cancel that trip? and if so, could anyone rcommend another European city that is open for business on these days?
Thanks for your help!

Berlin Berlin Christmas Market - possible trip to Potsdam
Posted: Wed October 29, 2008 12:40 PM UTC
I am thinking about going to Berlin in December so that I can visit one or more Christmas markets - I have always wanted to see Potsdam also and wondered if it is an easy trip to make by train seeing as it looks to be very close to Berlin?
I have never visited Germany (and cannot speak German!)

Have any of you any tips or advice?

Berlin Nice Hotel for Weekend Away
Posted: Wed October 8, 2008 01:58 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm thinking of planning a surprise weekend away in late November in Berlin with my girlfriend, a place she's always wanted to go. It's partly a thank you as well as I broke my ankle this year and was off work for 2 months, which meant she had to look after me and do everything at home as well.

I've managed to get some decent flights but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a nice hotel in the centre, with a bit of charm and character? Obviously I don't want to be fleeced, but I don't mind spending a bit of money on this.

Many thanks,

Berlin graue Busse - T4 memorial - photos
Posted: Mon October 6, 2008 12:45 AM UTC
I am not going to make it to Berlin this year. But can someone please confirm something I saw in a newspaper report: that a concrete Grey Bus now stands as an adjunct to the Aktion T4 memorial on Tiergartenstrasse near the Berliner Philharmonic building. What does it look like? If someone on a visit could post a photo, I'd be very grateful. I made a pilgrimage to the T4 memorial last year, making some of gesture of solidarity, as the parent of someone with a disability.

Also, does the bus actually bear the inscription "Wohin bringt ihr uns?"? As a Doors fan, I'm reminded of the line in The End "Driver, where you takin' us?". Although Jim Morrison's bus was blue...

I'm also reminded that there is a Jim Morrison/Nico connection - "Blood is the rose of mysterious union" - and that you will find a previous discussion in this forum about the location of Nico's grave.

But enough! I am tired and emotional, and rambling. Just to say, any photos posted would be much appreciated...

Berlin Wher should we stay in Berlin?
Posted: Tue September 30, 2008 05:33 PM UTC
It´s me again..I think I just got my husband interested in Berlin also-we love museums, and I told how much museums there is in Berlin-enough to choose from! So,because I love planning,I started allready to check Berlin tips. Can someone recommend witch area we should be looking for flats(or if there isn´t flats for rent, then hotells). We like to stay at area, where we can find different kinds of restaurants in the late evening/night.If you can sit outside it would be best(we are going in summer next year-I´m early-bird..).We usually go eat around 21 0´clock,so not daytime-places only.Could be some romantic, some little cheaper and so on.It wouldn´t harm,if there would be pubs also(no need for nightclubs-it´s not our thing). We also like to live close to center, because we walk a lot,and don´t use trams and so on so much-I know:in Berlin we must do it a little, but if there´s lots of interesting museums and sites at area,it´s even better. Is there big difference in east and west?My parents has visited both, but it was when the wall was still there.
If I ask to hard, then take only that thing:restaurants for night? At daytime we can walk 20-30km per day,but after we go fresh up at flat for evening,we will not like to walk long anymore-before morning!
